[Cloud_Announce] Cloud Update: OS Upgrades

[Engineering Cloud Cluster Announcement List]

The OS running on Cloud nodes will be updated this winter to Scientific Linux 6; a community-supported rebuild of RHEL6 (Currently, the Cloud runs CentOS 5)

Updates include:

GCC 4.4.5
Python 2.6.6
Octave 3.4.2 (Open Source Matlab)
R 2.14 (Statistical Computing)

and many other library updates.

If you'd like to try it out now, submit your job with the flag "-q six.q" to send it to the node that's been updated already! (4 cores, 16GB RAM)
